Welcome to Chestnut Hill
Chestnut Hill is a neighborhood in the Northwest section of Philadelphia and is one of the city’s most beautiful and historic communities. Centered around Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill is surrounded by Fairmount Park and adjacent to the Philadelphia neighborhood of Mt. Airy as well as the Montgomery County suburbs of Oreland, Wyndmoor and Lafayette Hill. It feels like a rural suburb while at the same time being just a short drive or train ride from Center City Philadelphia. Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill’s main street, features a variety of shops and fine dining options and is known for its walk-ability and charm. The homes here range from modest townhouses to extravagant, sprawling estates. Chestnut Hill was awarded one of the top seven urban enclaves in the USA by Forbes.com and was selected as a 2010 Distinctive Destination by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Chestnut Hill is the home to Chestnut Hill College, Chestnut Hill Hospital and the Woodmere Art Museum. Of the many local parks and arboretums, some include Pastorius Park, the Wissahickon Valley portion of the Fairmount Park system, and the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania.
