Originally named “Athensville”, Ardmore is another Main Line town on the outskirts of Philadelphia and a suburb within Montgomery and Delaware County. It was renamed Ardmore in 1873 by the Pennsylvania Railroad and its motto is “The Main Street of the Main Line”. The Paoli/Thorndale line along with the the Amtrak intercity passenger train are both located in Ardmore. Suburban Square and South Ardmore Park are just two of several recreation and shopping areas that residents and others enjoy. Additionally, there is a movie theater, a number of shops, the Ardmore Skating Club, the Ardmore Public Library, Ardmore Post Office, and “The Shack” community center.
